Blytheswood Shoe Box Appeal 2009

The Kirk Hall was recently a hive of industry, resembling a very busy warehouse when volunteers met to make up Blytheswood ‘Christmas in a Shoebox’ parcels. During the course of this year members and friends of the church and Rosehearty School have knitted items including blankets, scarves, baby clothes and children's jumpers for the appeal. The quality and quantity of knitting has far exceeded all expectations. In addition enough toiletries, small household items and toys to make up over 80 Shoeboxes have been received

The gifts, which were donated instead of traditional harvest produce, will be distributed by Blytheswood to bring Christmas cheer from Rosehearty to some of the world's most impoverished families. The Kirk Session would like to thank everyone who took part for their very generous support and to invite anyone who would like to contribute to the Shoebox appeal for 2010 to start knitting again whenever they are ready.

Rosehearty Guides presented with Baden Powell Awards

Four Rosehearty Guides have achieved the highest level of award available in Guiding. Gillian Downie, Shannon Dunbar, Rebecca Gray and Rachel Porter were presented  with Baden Powell certificates and badges at the Thinking Day Service held in Fraserburgh Old parish Church on Sunday 24th February. At the girls' request the awards were presented by Mrs Janet McLeman, Head Teacher, Rosehearty School. When making the presentation Mrs McLeman said that it was a great privilege to be able to present four former Rosehearty pupils with an award that marks such high personal achievement. The girls had all made good use of the opportunities offered to them by society and in doing so had used their own skills: First Aid, Information Technology and organisational skills to contribute to society and to help others. We can be very proud of their achievements.
